Chemical substance management expected to corporations today is extremely complex, including the management of chemical substances in general, including substances contained in the product, with the tracking of the lifecycle from manufacture to disposal, including the supply chain. Our group of experts will combine their efforts in supporting the management of chemical substances at your company.
This is a system where the types and intensity of hazards are classified and displayed according to the internationally harmonized criteria so that the hazards of the chemical substance are clear to all.
The display of the GHS classification is required by law around the world, including Europe, the USA, and Asia, and the preparation of safety data sheets (SDS) for the applicable substance, which includes the GHS classification), is made mandatory.
In Europe, the classification, display, and packaging of GHS are mandatory according to the CLP regulation.
We provide the following services relating to GHS.

For the satisfactory management of chemical substances, the assessment and understanding of the risks are required. In addition, it is necessary to analyze the assessment results and make decisions.
There are various methods of risk assessment from simple assessment for the screening of substances of concern to detailed assessment of a large amount of safety data. For this reason, it is important to assess the risk appropriately with costs and effort suitable for the purpose.
We have experts in risk assessment who will propose risk assessment strategies suitable for your purpose, including the handling of regulations on chemical substances (e.g. registration of substance) and self-management of chemical substance risks at your company (e.g. responsible care, GPS, etc.). We also conduct individual operations and reviews of risk management, including the collection of information, review of study data, proposal of study strategies for insufficient data to conduct the appropriate studies, and preparation of exposure scenarios.
This is an international chemical substance management strategy promoted by the ICCA (International Council of Chemical Associations) for the achievement of the target in WSSD (World Summit on Sustainable Development) in 2020. In Japan, the JIPS (Japan Initiative of Product Stewardship) is promoted by the Japan Chemical Industry Association.
Risk assessment will be conducted for substances with commercial distribution or transport quantity of 1 t per year per company or more (as well as some substances at or below 1 t per year per company) based on hazard information, such as toxicity, and information on exposure and the purpose of use with consideration for the lifecycle of products from manufacture to disposal.
Based on the assessment results, appropriate control will be implemented for the safety of workers, protection of consumers, and a reduction in the impact on environmental organisms, and the results will be summarized in GPS safety summary and released to the general public.
